76 ROYAL PALM HOTELS & RESORTS Em 1997, o The Royal Palm Plaza foi adquirido pelo Grupo Arcel. O hotel de então, apesar de ter passado por algumas reformas, tinha a estrutura pensada nos anos 70, já não mais compatível com a importância da região. Nos anos 90, Campinas havia passado por uma nova fase de crescimento e investimentos, e a carência por um empreendimento de nível internacional estava clara. O sonho era transformar aquele produto num dos melhores e mais completos hotéis do Brasil. Um sonho, sem dúvida alguma, muito ousado naquele momento. A grande dúvida era como fazer essa transição. Depois de um ano de análises e debates, a decisão foi ainda mais audaciosa: reconstruir completamente todas as áreas sociais do hotel, incluindo o lobby, restaurante, piscinas, bares, áreas de lazer e convenções. Isso seria feito sem interromper as operações, exigindo um minucioso plano diretor em três fases, com a utilização de instalações temporárias para o lobby, restaurante e cozinha. Nos anos de 1999, 2001 e 2003 o trabalho foi colocado em prática. Deu certo. In 1997, The Royal Palm Plaza was acquired by the Arcel Group. The hotel at the time, despite having undergone some renovations, had a structure designed in the 70s, no longer compatible with the importance of the region. In the 90s, Campinas had gone through a new phase of growth and investment, and the need for an international level enterprise was clear. This would be done without interrupting operations, requiring a detailed master plan in three phases, involving the use of temporary facilities for the lobby, restaurant, and kitchen.
